Welcome!

I am Jan Richards, and as a professor of teacher education at National University in Ontario, California, my greatest interest is in supporting and encouraging educators. Because I was in the classroom for 20 years, I understand the pressure of today's teachers, so many of whom are burning out and leaving the profession.

On this site, I've included what I hope will encourage, support, and inspire you: my favorite websites for teachers, inspirational/motivational stories, useful class handouts, and my published work written to strengthen the understanding of teachers and principals.

Feel free to contact me to share other wonderful resources that can be included here. Know that your efforts in the classroom are enormously valuable and that you do indeed make a difference in the world!

With affection,

Jan

Teacher Stress and Coping Strategies Survey

Thanks to those of you who participated in this survey.  It is now closed, but I will be adding some results on this website within the next month.

For now, I think I will suggest some interesting teacher websites for you to investigate:  Here are two YouTube videos that connect with motivation.  Enjoy!

Here is one of my all time favorite sites for having fun and building your vocabulary (Appropriate for middle and high school students):

FREE RICE   http://www.freerice.com/index.php

What a great site! It’s addictive—as well as increasing your vocabulary. Here’s what they say: For each word you get right, we donate 20 grains of rice to the United Nations World Food Program. TRY IT!
