    This site not only has definitions, but word games from crossword puzzles to tongue twisters. It’s a fun site to look at word etymologies, grammar, and the importance of words in general since they make up our life!

    This site offers a unique approach to writing where students are given writing assignments with clear procedures and focused content skills. The content skills help focus students in what to concentrate on as they write, as well as making writing seem more manageable.

  • The Teacher's Desk

    This site has several resources in spelling, reading, and writing. One of the tools I like the best is the paragraph a week program. It is a strategy of helping parents and students work together to emphasize writing. It has students writing on a number of different topics to get them writing on a weekly basis, exposing them to different formats of writing, and working through the writing process.

  • Spark Notes

    While sparknotes has been used by students to get out of doing reading assignments, I have been able to use it as a tool for teaching through novels. It has summaries, themes, symbols, character analysis, etc. It is a great resource for teachers in helping students understand what they are reading

  • Vocabulary.com

    Everything for vocabulary is organized for you. There are word lists, puzzles, lesson plans, as well as preparation for tests. Although sometimes you have to change the words around, it’s a great starting point and provides great directives.

  • Online Spelling Program

    Spelling City can be used to let students work on spelling words on the computer. It has a feature where a student can hear a real voice say the spelling words, which is great. I love this site because it lets kids have an alternate way to practice spelling that may be a better fit for certain learning styles.

  • WORDLE!

    Wordle is a toy for generating “word clouds” from text that you provide. The clouds give greater prominence to words that appear more frequently in the source text. You can tweak your clouds with different fonts, layouts, and color schemes. FUN!!
